The Nissan Teana is a mid-size car manufactured by Nissan Japan. It is exported as Nissan Maxima, Nissan Cefiro, and Nissan Sentra to certain markets. It replaces the Nissan Bluebird, Laurel and Cefiro. It shares the platform with Nissan Maxima and Nissan Altima which are sold in North America, as well as minivan Presage Japan market. Teana has been available in East Asia, Russia, Ukraine, South Asia, ASEAN, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and the Caribbean.

In 2007 Teana shares the platform with French cousins, Renault Laguna and Latitude Renault in most of Europe, Middle East and Africa, and in Southeast Asia as Renault Samsung SM5.

With the introduction of Teana, Nissan continues the J lineage for the model code (J31 and J32) of Nissan Maxima (J30).

Starting with the introduction of the third generation in 2013, Teana is now an engineering version of the Altima badge from North America.

The name "Teana" comes from a small village in Italy, sharing the naming effect for Nissan Murano, another city in Italy, which appears at the same time.

First generation (J31, 2003-2008)

The J31 Teana series was first introduced in February 2003 to the Japanese market as a companion sedan for Nissan Murano with both exclusive vehicles for Nissan Japan dealers called Nissan Red Stage . It replaces Nissan Bluebird and Nissan Cefiro in Japan, where the car is considered a luxury car one level below Nissan Skyline. This is because the exterior dimensions and engine displacement exceed the regulations, and Japanese buyers are responsible for additional costs as a result. The car was introduced with an internet-based navigation system, telematics, and optional GPS called CarWings only for Japanese drivers.

The J31 Teana also follows the same chassis pattern pattern with the Nissan Maxima (J30).

In most of the world, Teana is Nissan's largest front wheel drive sedan, while Skyline and Fuga are rear-wheel drive, with optional all-wheel drive.

Introduced a month later to other Asian markets such as Singapore. In 2004, the car arrived on the European shore replacing the Nissan Maxima QX.

Powering the Teana is a 1998, cc, 2349 or 3498 cc engine suitable for automatic transmission. The rate of pruning is 200JK, 230JK, 230JM, and 350JM. The car is based on the Nissan FF-L platform. In December 2005, Teana received new headlights and taillights, chrome trimming on the bumper, enlarged fog lamps, front footrests, and newly designed gauges. The car was also shortened slightly, and the clear turning signal was replaced by the amber. XTronic CVT is also mated to all machines.

In the People's Republic of China, Teana is produced by Dongfeng Motor Company, a joint venture with Nissan. In neighboring Pakistan, Teana is known as Cefiro and assembled in Karachi. In Taiwan produced by Yulon Motor. In addition, it is sold in India, Russia, Ukraine as well as in New Zealand and Australia where it competes with locally produced Mitsubishi 380 and Toyota Aurion under the Maxima badge. The first generation Teana is also assembled in Thailand for sale in the ASEAN market.

The Renault Samsung SM7 from South Korea is built on the Teana platform. In January 2005, Renault Samsung announced a lower specification version of Teana which was sold as the second generation (A34R) Renault Samsung SM5 and, from 2008, as Renault Safrane.

In some countries, 200JK is not sold. In contrast, 230JK, basically 230JM without a VQ23DE engine is sold. In Australia, the car was sold in the form of ST-L, Ti and Ti-L, but the Ti-L model was lowered after a facelift in 2005.

In 2008, Nissan stopped production of J31.

Machinery and specifications

Teana first generation uses a number of engines, namely QR20DE, VQ23DE and VQ35DE versions are slightly detuned.
