The Ban Kingdom was founded by Chuck Curcio in Florida in 1972, starting with a location in a farmer's market in West Palm Beach, Florida. Businesses thrived and organizations began to open stores across Florida and by the late 1980s had grown through most major markets in the country, with 34 locations in 1984, and 67 locations by the end of 1988. Curcio became famous for his rude night party, usually showcasing him in strange costumes like Crocket from Miami Vice. In subsequent years the company expanded to Georgia, Louisiana, Vermont, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Carolina.

Acquisition by Michelin Group
Curcio sold the Tire Kingdom to the Michelin group in an agreement that closed in early 1989. In 1993, an investment group led by Goldman Sachs took over the reins, with Curcio back as part of the team. Curcio resigned in 1996, and TBC Corporation bought the company in mid 2000 to report $ 45 million. TBC Corporation also has O Big Tires, National Tires & amp; Batteries, and Ban Merchant chains, each of which has a separate brand and a generally separate area.
On April 3, 2015, TBC Corporation announced that all Tyre Kingdom locations outside of Florida will be renamed under National Tire & amp; Brand of battery.
