The Nokia 3310 is a GSM phone announced on September 1, 2000, and released in the fourth quarter of this year, replacing the popular Nokia 3210. It sold very well, being one of the most successful phones with 126 million units sold worldwide, and became one of Nokia's most iconic devices. This phone is still widely recognized and has gained cult status due to its durability.
Several variants of the 3310 have been released, including Nokia 3315 , 3320 , 3330 , 3350 , 3360 , 3390 and 3395 .
A new phone based on the 3310 icon design was launched in 2017. The new Nokia 3310 (2017) model comes with a comprehensive update of its predecessor with a 2.4 "color display, 2MP rear camera, and microSD slot.

Design
3310 was developed at the Nokia website in Denmark. This is a compact and sturdy phone with a pure monochrome display of 84 ÃÆ'â € "48 pixels. It has a light weight 115g battery variant that has fewer features; for example the 133 g battery version has a start-up image of two hands touching while the 115g version does not. This is a rather rounded rectangular unit that is usually held in the palm of the hand, with the button operated with the thumb. The blue button is the main button to select an option, with the "C" key as the "backspace", "back" or "undo" button. Up and down keys are used for navigation purposes. The on/off/profile button is a rigid black button located at the top of the phone.
3310 is known for being quite durable due to its casing and construction, a feature that is often exaggerated in the online community. Many videos are also on mobile phones that are inserted through increasingly severe damage tests to test the power of mobile phones, including being dropped from high altitudes (sometimes when protected with emergency cases made from various objects), destroyed by heavy objects or beaten. by vehicle or hammer, many times the phone proves its record.

The 3310 is known for having many features that are rare for the moment. This includes many utilities, such as calculators, Nokia network monitors, stop watch and reminder functions. The 3315 is very popular for SMS text messaging as it allows long messages three times the size of standard SMS text messages, on 459 characters. It also displays text messages threaded and SMS Chat. The phone also has a voice call for speed dial from the selected number.
Customization
The Nokia 3310 can be customized with replaceable Xpress-On covers, and thousands of different designs have been produced by various companies. It also has over 35 built-in ringtones with space for seven custom tones. It can be downloaded, or composed by the user on the handset. The phone has various "profiles" that can set a number of preferences like silent mode where the phone will not ring, useful for situations where it is inappropriate to do so. Screensaver can be created from received picture message.
Variant
3315, 3390, and 3395
An enhanced version of 3310 is Nokia 3315 which has some additional features:
- Picture editor for editing images for use in messages SMS & amp; screensaver on phone
- Timed profile
- Can use received ringtones as SMS tone
- Fixed some bugs found in 3310
- Automatic keypad lock after a certain time
- Peanuts like silver keymat beans like peanuts
- Singapore and Malaysia selling 3315 also have a blue backlight for LCD screen and keypad instead of green.
- A similar design for the successor (Nokia 3410)
The 3315 is also released in Australia. Most of the 3310 version can be upgraded to include 3315 additional features using the data cable.
There are two North American variants of 3310; one of which is Nokia 3390 , which operates on GSM 1900. The Nokia 3395 is the latest version of 3390 that includes additional features of the Asian model 3315, and has poor reception when connected to GSM 850 area.
enhanced WAP model (3330 and 3350)
The Nokia 3330 adds CSD-based WAP capabilities, animated screensavers, pinball games called 'Bumper' and phonebook (stored in phone memory as opposed to SIM cards in previous models) with 100 capacity entries for the model. It also has the ability to download Java MIDP applications via WAP (Snake II labyrinth, Bumper table, Space Impact chapters).
The only Asia Pacific version, known as Nokia 3350 , is essentially an 3330 enhancement with WAP, rhythmic backlight warnings, animated screensavers, two-way Navi-Key, dedicated call button and hang button, Chinese lunar calendar and screen 96ÃÆ' â € "65-pixels. Some 3350 have a back cover that features a photo insertion window, allowing users to place personal photos from photos, cut-out magazines, etc.
AMPS/D-AMPS based version ( 3320 and 3360)
Nokia 3360 and 3320 are related models designed for US and Canadian markets. They are externally similar to 3310 and 3390, but use Digital AMPS ("TDMA")/AMPS technology rather than GSM.
Like the Asian 3350, they include two dedicated call buttons and hanging buttons and two soft keys. They also have an infrared port. Unlike 3390, 3360 and 3320 do not support voice calls. At 136 grams each, they are also slightly heavier than 3390, which weighs 119 grams.
Finland National Emoji
In November 2015, Nokia 3310 was chosen as one of the first three "Emojis Nasional" for Finland. This emoji is referred to as "The Unbreakable", because the phone is known for its toughness and durability.
Revival
On February 14, 2017, it was reported that a revived version of 3310 will be unveiled at 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona by HMD Global Oy, a Finnish manufacturer with the right to market phones under Nokia brand, at a price point of 49 euros. On February 26, 2017, the modern version of the 3310 was relaunched at a price of EUR 49.00.
