Automatic quartz is a collective term that describes a watch movement that incorporates automatic winding rotor mechanisms (such as those used in automated mechanical watches) to generate electricity with piezoelectric quartz crystals as a timing element element. The movement aims to provide the benefits of quartz without the discomfort and environmental impact of the battery. Some manufacturers use this technique.

Mode operasi

A pendulum that rotates inside the casing is attached to a relatively large gear that integrates with a very small pinion. As the user moves, the pendulum rotates and rotates the pinion at a very high speed - up to 100,000 rpm. These are coupled to miniature electrical generators that charge storage devices that are capacitors or rechargeable batteries. The full charge will usually last between two weeks and six months.

Seiko

The Japanese company Seiko pioneered the technique unveiled at the 1986 Baselworld trade show under the name of AGM trials. The first wristwatch was released in Germany in January 1988 and April of the same year in Japan (under the name Auto-Quartz ). The watch has an average monthly rate of Ã, Â ± 15 seconds and provides 75 hours of continuous operation when the power is full. The initial queue of automatic quartz is called AGS (Automatic Generating System); in 1991 the company introduced the brand name Kinetic . Today Seiko offers a variety of watches with various Kinetic movements. The top of the line is 9T82 caliber, included in the Sportura brand (international brand) and PROSPEX (marketed only in Japan). It is sold in limited volume with a price range of about US $ 3000 which makes it one of the most expensive auto quartz hours. Kinetic technology has also been used in several watches of Seiko's Pulsar and Lorus. In 2007, Seiko has sold more than eight million quartz automatic watches.

Different calibrations of Kinetic watches are relatively large and heavy, weighing 1/3 pound (150 grams) or more in many models. Therefore, most Seiko Kinetic watches are available only in male size.

ETA

The Swiss company ETA SA, part of the Swatch group, made seven different quartz auto movements, calling them Autoquartz . They are part of a series of premium Flatline movements and sold to various watch vendors, especially Europe and America. High class movements designed to survive during their premium mechanical movement, they have between 15 and 53 gems. Unlike most quartz watches, Autoquartz can be calibrated to improve its accuracy. Some vendors have their Autoquartz watch certified COSC. In 2006 to increase the production of his highly demanded mechanical movement, Swatch stopped supplying Autoquartz lines to customers (service and spare parts are still available). Then in 2009, perhaps because of the available production capacity or stocked parts, Tissot reintroduced Autoquartz in its PRC200 dive watch. The Autoquartz movement used by Tissot is gold-plated and carries a 205,914 ETA designation.

Movement of caliber:

  • 204,901 (8.75 small lignes used primarily in women's watches)
  • 204.911 (replacement 204,901 increase from capacitor to rechargeable battery)
  • 205.111 (discontinued and replaced by 205,911 upgraded from capacitor to rechargeable battery)
  • 205711 (15 gems movements are only used by Swatch Watch for various fashion watches)
  • 205911 (the most common motion available that has 17 gems and is often ordered with gold plating)
  • 205.914 (no information available from ETA)
  • 205.961 (a 205,911 with the addition of GMT hands)
  • 206.211 (a 205,911 is equipped with Dubois Depraz 2021 to create chronographs, with 53 gems of the most stunning quartz movement ever made)

Manufacturers who employ or use ETA gestures: Tissot, Rado on their Accustar watch, Longines, Swatch, Omega (Omega Seamaster Omega-matic), Dugena (K-Tech), Wenger (GST Field Terragraph Autoquartz), HermÃÆ'¨s (Nomade ), Roberge (AltaÃÆ'¯r), Mido (Multifort), Bovet (Autoquartz caliber 11BQ01), Fortis (Spacematic Eco), Belair (Autoquartz), Franck Muller (Transamerica), HTO (Grand Voyager) and Cyma.

Citizen

Citizen, one of the world's largest watchmakers, also built an autoquartz-powered watch: Eco-Drive Duo (released in December 1998). The novel for this watch is the use of mechanical strength as well as solar cells. This model is an attempt to enter the market at a higher price (at a cost of about $ 1000 USD), but the technology fails to attract consumers and Citizen has since stopped using a unique movement. No other autoquartz watches from Citizen are known; all other Eco-Drive models only use solar power or thermal power.

Ventura

Ventura is a small Swiss watch manufacturer that claims to be "the only digital digital clock manufacturer in the world". Their VEN_99 movement is the only clock that combines autoquartz and digital time readout (LCD) in one package. Offered three models: Sparc rx, fx and px. At the end of 2006, the company began selling their moves with incorporated alarms, other exclusive features. All hardware is Ventura's.

In 2007 the company went bankrupt. Support is available from independent entities. In 2011, the company re-emerged from bankruptcy and continued to sell its model, introduced the "Generation-Micro-System-2" and marketed the watch (Sparc MGS) which integrated it as the world's first and only digital multi-function digital reading machine. quartz module. Unlike the other manufacturers, the watch motion ( VEN_10 ) and the resources ( MGS ) are separate units, only connected by one wire.

Pricing

Regardless of the relatively complex mechanical parts used, Seiko has positioned their kinetic watches at a moderate price. Exceptions are kinetic with other complications such as the 9T82, 7L22 chronograph movement and direct-motion movements. ETA sells Autoquartz to various Swiss manufacturers for under $ 100 (Swatch) up to thousands (Omega, Baume et Mercier, et al.). Price Ventura quartz automatic watches around 2000-4000 Euro.
