Breslow was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut. He was a Jew, and studied at Hebrew school. His family attended the B'nai Congregation of Israel in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he owned a bar mitzvah in 1993. He had fasted while practicing at Yom Kippur, and noted: "Being Jews is harder in baseball... but I try to do what I can take care of the holidays. "

Breslow's father Abe Breslow, an All American footballer in college, is a teacher and former department chair in Physical Education and Health, and a male tennis and women's soccer coach, at Trumbull High School. His mother, Ann Breslow, was a mathematics teacher at Bridgeport.

In 1992 when she was 12 years old, her sister Lesley - two years older - was diagnosed with pediatric thyroid cancer, which she underwent surgery to remove all her thyroid gland (thyroidectomy). "Something traumatic like that has a lasting impact," Breslow said. "It confirms my interest [in medicine], being a doctor transformed from a prestigious profession into something that changes people's lives." The experience caused Breslow to be interested in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. Later, Breslow formed a non-profit foundation to help children with cancer.

SMA

Breslow attended Trumbull High School in Trumbull, Connecticut, graduating in 1998. He stands out in baseball and soccer, and serves as team captain in both sports during his senior year.

In baseball, he is a winning thrower in the LL State Baseball Class championship game, playing with teammate and Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round to be selected and main league infielder Jamie D'Antona. He also plays in the minor league with future big league pitcher Charlie Morton. As a senior in high school, Breslow plays in a Connecticut/Massachusetts All-Star game at Fenway Park. He was named for the 1998 Allen Area All-Area New Haven New Haven Register team.

In football, he helped lead Trumbull High to their first country's tournament victory. In 1997, he was appointed to the Football Team Team First Soccer Team of Interscholastic Fairfield County. He is known for having a remarkable ability to score from a very difficult and wide angle, and ranks among all-time goalscorers. Scholastically he excelled as well, scored 1420 on the SAT exam.

Higher Education

Breslow graduated from Yale University in 2002 with B.A. in molecular biochemistry and biochemistry, and get permission to enter the NYU School of Medicine, which he holds.

Breslow is the captain of the Yale Bulldogs baseball team in the Ivy League. As a freshman in 1999, he played for Giants Middletown from the New England Collegiate Baseball League; in November 2013 he was inducted into the NECBL's Hall of Fame. As a junior, he leads Yale in victory (3) and ERA (2.61; 3 in the Ivy League), attacking 66 batters in 51 2/3 innings (13th in the country rankings in strikeouts per nine innings). He earned an All-Ivy award that season, which included a 16-Coret vs. Cornell performance, and a one-hit shutout at Harvard. As a senior, he led the Ivy League with 2.56 ERAs.

In 2002, Breslow was named Jewish Sports Review College Baseball First Team All-American, along with future major leagues Sam Fuld and Adam Greenberg.

He was recruited in the 26th round by Milwaukee Brewers in 2002. Breslow postponed his admission to the New York University School of Medicine for his "love of the game". In July 2017, he suspended his acceptance to medical school four times, as he continued to play baseball.

Breslow reached the Premiership in 2005, the first Yale graduate to do so since Ron Darling (1983-95). He played his first game for San Diego on July 23, 2005. Breslow was also one of six Ivy League on the premier league list at the start of the 2009 season. In 2012, Breslow and catcher Ryan Lavarnway became the first Yale graduate to become Premiership teammates since 1949 , and the first All-Yale battery in the major leagues since 1883.

Professional career

Milwaukee Brewers Organization (2002-04)

In 2002, Breslow was ranked fifth in the Pioneer League with six wins, becoming 6-2 with 1.82 ERA in 23 appearances from a pen for Rookie-level Ogden Raptors. He attacked 56 in 54 1/3 innings, and limited the opposition to 0.218 on average.

In 2003, he averaged 11 1/3 strikeouts per nine innings for Single-A Beloit Snappers of the Midwest League, fanning 80 batters in 65 innings.

In 2004, Breslow played 79 matches in the Brewers system, reaching Class A California League High Desert Mavericks. Brewers released Breslow during the 2004 season.

He then took the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and scored 34 (median scores for medical school applicants was 28), and applied to NYU Medical School. But even though medical school accepted it, they would just let him get started if he agreed to stop playing baseball. "I'm not ready to give up yet," he said. "I think I can still get people out." In 2013, he doubts whether after a baseball career ends he will attend medical school, or alternatively become involved in the operational side of baseball. Northeast_League_ (2004) "> Northeast League (2004)

Breslow completed the 2004 season pitching for the New Jersey Jackals of the Northeast League, an independent baseball league. He held the batter to an average of 0.204 and recorded 37 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings, averaging 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

Organization of San Diego Padres (2005)

Signed by San Diego Padres in 2005 for $ 1 out of the experimental camp, he excelled, earning $ 1,500 after making Double-A Southern League Mobile BayBears, allowing an average of 0.212 in 52 innings over 40 shows while strike 47 and running 17 with 2.75 ERA. He won his first major league title on July 23, 2005. He was mistaken for the batboy team during his first day with Padres. He became Yalie 24 to play in Major League Baseball and the first to reach the premier league since Ron Darling. "It was not until I played baseball in a big league that I thought I could play baseball in the big leagues", he said.

Breslow then split the rest of the season between San Diego, for whom he has a 2.20 ERA in 14 games, and the Three-A Pacific League Portland Beavers League. The Padres non-tendered Breslow in December 2005.

2006

He was signed by the Red Sox, as a minor league free agent, for a minor league contract in January 2006.

In 2006, Breslow was named the International League (Triple-A) All-Star while with Pawtucket Red Sox. In 67 rounds of work for the season, he was 7-1 with 2.69 ERA and attacked an average of 10.3 batters per nine innings. He was chosen by his partner as PawSox Most Valuable Pitcher. He was promoted to Boston in the second half of the season, making him the fourth Jewish player (other than Kevin Youkilis, Gabe Kapler, and Adam Stern) to play for the Red Sox that year.

In 12 innings with the Red Sox in 2006, he posted 3.75 ERA and had 12 strikeouts.

Off the field, he helped Red Sox pitchers, Josh Beckett win the bet against catcher Doug Mirabelli. Breslow counted the number of times a baseball ball spun when thrown 90 miles per hour from a pitcher mound to home plate. "Josh wants to know if I can figure out how many times the baseball ball is spinning toward the plate," Breslow said. "There are a lot of variables, but I put in a few numbers and generate answers for fastball, curve, or slider, it's a bit simple after you do it."

2007

Breslow traveled to Triple-A All-Star game in July for the second consecutive season for the Pawtucket Red Sox. At the end of June, ERA Breslow is 1.55. But his final figures for 2007 were 2-3, 4.06 ERA, 25 runs, 73 strikeouts in 68 innings. He was promoted to Boston on September 1, 2007, but did not appear and was sent back to Pawtucket on September 2 to make room on the team list for Jon Lester. Breslow added to the postings list, and had a ring from winning the 2007 World Series - without throwing a game in that year's majors. Cleveland Indians (2008)

Cleveland Indians (2008)

On March 23, 2008, Breslow claimed the full release by Indian Cleveland and added to the 40-person list. Breslow is out of a small league option, so the Indians have to defend it in their big league club from the camp, or expose him to lightening again. Breslow won last place on the Indian Opening Day list. "He is strong," said Cleveland manager Eric Wedge. "I want to be able to use him two rounds, he does that - if you see his turn is pitched in the last few years compared to appearance."

On May 23, after throwing nine games, Breslow was appointed for the task.

Minnesota Minnesota Twins (2008-09)

2008

On May 29, 2008, Minnesota Twins claimed Breslow was free from the release. In 42 games for Twins Breslow has 1.63 ERA, and surrendered only 24 hits in 38 2/3 innings. Lefties hit 0.183 against him, with 0.232 slugging percentage, and in saving the batted situation batted.100 against him, with a slugging percentage of.100. He has not given up in his last 14 appearances.

Breslow aggregate 2008 ERA 1.91 in 47 inning is the ninth-best in the American League of all pitchers with at least 40 pitched inning, and second best among AL lefty busting. He holds all the dough up to an average of 0.191 batting, an on-base percentage of 0.265, and a slumpging 0.299 percentage.

2009

Playing for the Twins in 2009, Breslow holds the left handed to an average of 0.211 batting and right-handers to an average of 2262 batting, but struggling control issues in 17 appearances.

The Twins think they have a 50-50 chance of losing Breslow when they put him in waivers in May 2009 to clear the room on their 25-man list for fellow left-hander Sean Henn. Oakland needed the help of a bullpen and claimed Breslow before his 72 hour release period ended. If she cleans, the Twins can send her to Triple-A Rochester. "We hope to defend it," said assistant general manager Rob Antony. "We lost a bullpen man without trying to lose a bullpen man", says manager Ron Gardenhire. "I was a little surprised when they told me."

Oakland Athletics (2009-11)

2009

Looking for an experienced lefty for their bullpen, Oakland Athletics claimed Breslow's relief on May 20, 2009. According to assistant general manager David Forst, A has been trying to get him on another occasion. "I'm happy to see him," said Manager A, Bob Geren. "He is an experienced left-handed man, he has some success at this level." He is left A key from the bullpen for the rest of the season.

He was second in the AL performance in 2009, with 77. Batters hit only.143 against him when there was a runner in goal-scoring position. He holds all the dough up to an average of 0.197 batting, and 0.289 on-base percentage.

He also keeps the team impressed with his intelligence. "Breslow knows everything," said the left-hander Dallas Braden. "I seriously want to be Craig Breslow when I grow up."

2010

Asked in 2010 if there was a story behind his jersey number, Breslow said: "When you spend time with a lot of organizations over 5.5 years, you do not really care what number you get."

He was second in the Navy in 2010 appearance for the second year in a row, appearing in 75 matches (total one fifth highest season in A history). Only 7 of 33 runners inherited (21.2%) scored against him, third best in AL. He held the propellers to hit an average of 0.194, and 0.272 on-base percentages. Opposing the batter is 0-for-11 with zero RBI against him with a loaded base, which is the full base on bat against the AL pitcher with zero RBI since the stat was tracked starting in 1974.

His 71 strikeout was the most by leyty reliever in Oakland history, breaking the 69 mark set by Bob Lacey in 1977. He finished with a career-high 74 2/3 innings; fourth among the American League busters. He was named the Most Valuable Jewish Pitcher of the Year 2010 by the Jewish Major League, when Ryan Braun won the beater award. Throughout 2010, he in his career allowed only 33 of the 151 (21.9%) of runners inherited to score, which was the fourth best percentage among the throwers with 150 or so runners inherited since statistics were first tracked in 1974.

2011

In 2011, he was 0-2 with 3.79 ERA in 67 games in which he pitched 59.1 innings. He leads all the pitcher help with 5 choices, and leads the American League destroyer with 7 caught stealing. Arizona Diamondbacks (2012)

Boston Red Sox's second task

2012

On July 31, 2012, he traded to the Boston Red Sox to outside players Scott Podsednik and Matt Beners help bidder. In 23 innings in 2012 for the Red Sox, he attacks 19 and has a 2.70 ERA. He holds an average opponent of.206 batting, and defies lefties to.184 batting on average.

For this season, he was 3-0 with 2.70 ERA in 63 games for Arizona and Boston, and handed a left-handed hitter to.222 batting on average.

2013

In January 2013, he signed a two-year contract with the Red Sox at least $ 6.25 million. It receives $ 2,325 million in 2013, and $ 3,825 million in 2014. The Red Sox has a $ 4 million option for 2015, with a purchase of $ 100,000.

He started the 2013 season on the defective list with left shoulder tendinitis. After rehab events with Double A Portland and Triple A Pawtucket, they are activated on May 7th. He appears as Red Sox's main set-up rider.

On September 16, Breslow was named Red Sox nomination for the 2013 Roberto Clemente Award.

In the regular season of 2013, he was 5-2 with 1.81 ERA (third among left-league struggles in the American League), in 61 games and 59.2 innings, and holds the opponent's batters with.228 batting average. His 0.65 ERA second half of the season is the fourth best among major league defeats with at least 25 innings cast. In his last 28 appearances of the regular season, he only allowed one run.

In the 2013 League Series, he put up a goalless 3.2 innings of more than 3 matches, scoring victories and allowing two hits and one run when attacking four, as the Red Sox defeated Tampa Bay. In the 2013 UEFA Champions League series, he added a scoreless 3.1 round against the Detroit Tigers, bringing his post-post total to 7 goalless in 7 appearances, where he held opposition to 0.130 batting average. Breslow blogs during the post-season 2013. During the 2013 playoffs, he pitched in 10 of 16 games, collecting 2.45 ERAs.

From 2008-13, Breslow pitched in more games (392) than any other left-handed damper than Matt Thornton, with 2.82 ERA, while limiting the batter to an average of 0.224.

2014

Breslow started the 2014 season on the disabled list, did not make his first appearance until the 10th game of the season, and compiled 5.96 ERAs in 60 appearances for the Red Sox. His performance contrasted sharply with his 2.82 ERA for the previous six seasons.

The Red Sox refused the $ 4 million option, bought it $ 100,000 and made it a free agent. The Red Sox are still in a position to sign Breslow back with less money. General Manager Ben Cherington said: "He has a lot of good qualities and we have a great relationship with him, so we'll see what happens."

On September 16, Breslow was named Red Sox nomination for the 2014 Roberto Clemente Award.
