The Ford Focus Mk 2 is a car manufactured by Ford from 2005 to 2010. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show on August 23, 2004 as a three and five-door hatchback and estate, even though the new car was previewed, in the form of a sedan 4-door, as the 'Concept Focus' developed by Ford Europe at the Beijing Motor Show in mid-2005.

Design and techniques
Mk 2, codenamed C307, uses the Ford C1 platform that is shared with Volvo S40, V50 and C70, Mazda3 and Focus C-MAX. Ford calls this platform sharing program "Global Shared Technologies".
The basic suspension design, which contributed a lot to the success of Mk 1, has been carried largely unchanged from its predecessor which, along with a 10% rigid bodyshell, offers Ford a better ride. The same body style as Mk 1 Focus is offered, although the saloon did not appear until mid-2005.
The Focus Mk 2 is much larger and much heavier than its predecessor with an increased wheelbase of 25 mm (1 inch), 168 mm (6.6 inches) longer, 8 mm (0.3 inches) taller, and 138 mm (5, 4 inches) wider. As a result, the interior and boot space are increasing. New technologies include the KeyFree system, reflective solar windshield, adaptive front lighting, Bluetooth hands-free phone, and voice control for audio, telephone and climate control systems.
It also comes with a 6-speed Durashift manual, a 4-speed Durashift automatic transmission, an all-new Durashift advanced manual transmission or just a standard manual.
In style, styling Mk 2 has the same design language found in Mondeo and Fiesta. Though still recognizable as the Focus, the new car uses the styling feature of the abandoned B-Proposal for original Focus that never reaches production.
The interior and dashboard follows from Mk 2 Mondeo and is built of higher quality plastic than before.

Availability
Focus Mk 2 is also built in Silverton, South Africa for export to Australia and New Zealand. But soon after launch, Ford New Zealand delivered its supply to meet Australia's high demand, and is now receiving vehicles from the German factory in Saarlouis. In 2006, Mk 2 made its debut in America with its launch in the Mexican market as a 4-door saloon or sporty 3-door trim ST. Mk 2 Focus is now available with the basic version of the Mk I model in several other markets around the world such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela. In Argentina, Mk 1 Focus was built side by side with Mk 2 at Pacheco Factory until 2008, when Mk 2 eventually replaced it.
In the US and Canada, the Mk 1 Focus is offered in a redesigned form both as a saloon or coupe, hatchback and wagon derived after the 2008 redesign. Sales of the coupe model are only a fraction of the previous 3-door hatchback, even though Saloon Focus sales and compact cars increasing in general.
Security
The new car has earned the best EuroNCAP ratings for its class (5 stars for adult protection, 4 out of 5 for child protection and 2 out of 4 for pedestrian protection), beating competitors such as Vauxhall/Opel Astra and Volkswagen Golf, including full (16/16) sign for front impact test.

(Mk2.5 or LV)
Ford launched the Ford Focus Mk2 facelift at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. Sales began in the UK in February 2008. Changes include:
- Cosmetically, the facelift brings Focus according to the Kinetic Design language seen on Ford Mondeo 2007 and 2006 Ford S-MAX & amp; Ford Galaxy, while still with the general form of the pre-facelift model. Each exterior panel (except the roof) is reworked with the following key detail changes: trapezoidal grille, backward swept front lamp, thick wheel arches, newly formed rear glass, contoured tailgate, and new tail lights
- Greater use of soft touch plastic in the interior
- Binnacle revised instrument and interior control, now with red lighting
- New design console center especially for Titanium trim and optional Zetec top line
- Ford PowerShift transmission (similar to Volkswagen DSG ) added to the range
- Ford Power Button Introduction
- Introduction of the 110PS version of the Duratorq TDCi 2.0 engine.
- The revised trim range consists of Studio type, Style, ECOnetic, Zetec, Titanium, ST - 1, ST - 2 and ST - 3.
The end of 2008 saw the introduction of the 'Zetec S' trim, adding front and rear spoiler body kit, side skirts and a large roof spoiler from ST. These include aluminum pedals, silver hand brake covers, and optional WRC packages that add flag decals and WRC scuff plates.
The price is similar (if not identical) to the pre-facelift Focus (Price being at least Ã, à £ 250 more, the price of stability control as an option on the previous model, now included as standard). This is like a lead at the top of the UK car sales charts cut, by Vauxhall Astra in previous years.
Ford collaborated with singer and Strictly Come Dancing Winner Alesha Dixon in January 2008 to make remixes of special editions and exclusive videos to celebrate the launch of the new Ford Focus.
In June 2009, Focus Saloon was removed in the United Kingdom, and the rest of Western Europe (though still available at RHD in South Africa, Ireland & Australia). However, sales continue through 2011 in Continental Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, China & amp; Taiwan (although produced in LHD). Production ends in 2011, but for some markets, such as Brazil, along with China & amp; Argentina, still sold as Focus Classic or Focus until production ends in 2014, but China still sells it under the name Focus Classic.
In January 2010, the Focus III Saloon was revealed.
Additional variants
Focus ST
In 2005 Ford launched a hot hatch version of Mk 2 Focus. Called as Focus ST , and available in three or five-door hatchback variants, this car uses Ford Duratec ST, a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 225 hp (168 kW, 228 PS).
The Ford Focus Mk 2 ST is also known as the XR5 Turbo in the Australian and New Zealand markets, but is sold as a five-door hatchback only. In 2008 Ford, along with Mountune Racing, launched a power upgrade kit that boosts power output up to 260 bhp (190 kW). kit consists of: filter K & amp; N panel, larger intercooler and re-map. no saloon version ever released

The Focus CoupÃÆ'à © -Cabriolet , a two-piece retractable hardtop, was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006 and went on sale in October 2006. Originally named Vignale by Pininfarina designer, it was previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2005 Pininfarina does the final assembly.
In February 2008, Ford revealed a new Focus CoupÃÆ'à © -Cabriolet that wears the new 'Kinetic Design' front end of the generic Ford Focus. However, unlike the generic Focus models, the side panels and rear body are unchanged, and the door mirrors are also not upgraded to new-style units, as in other new Focus models. Also the bodyside mold is removed, like the rest of the Focus range. Some press outlets expect such changes to be in line with the rest of the range.
ECOnetic Focus
Appearing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007 as part of a facelift range, Focus ECOnetic is an emission-friendly model, similar to Volkswagen BlueMotion , using 109 PS 1.6 Duratorq TDCi engine with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Focus RS Mk 2
On December 17, 2007, Ford of Europe confirmed that the Mk 2 Focus RS will be launched in 2009. The press release also notes that the RS concept version will be released in mid-2008. Contrary to many rumors and RS speculations announced by Ford to have the layout The conventional FWD with Duratec ST engine is upgraded with 305PS Duratec RS, gearbox, suspension, and LSD. As announced, Focus RS MK2 hit the road on January 5, 2009.
When Ford completed the production process from Mk I, Ford UK managing director Paul Thomas said, "We always knew that Focus RS would be a sales winner, but we could never predict the fantastic reception and its effect in generating a passion for the Ford RS brand."
In 2008, Ford revealed the new Focus RS in the form of "concept" at the British International Motor Show. Duratec RS engine is upgraded to produce 305 PS (224Ã, kW, 301Ã, hp) and 440Ã, N? M (325Ã, lb? Ft) of torque. Acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is quoted under 6 seconds. The RS uses a modified and modified five-cylinder 2.522 cc engine found in the Focus ST. The larger Turbo Borger K16 turbo now gives an increase of up to 20.3-psi. A new air-to-air intercooler has been developed as a complement, while crankshafts are forged, silicon-aluminum pistons, graphite-coated drill holes, 8.5: 1 compression ratio and variable valve time also increase power output. The car still uses front-wheel drive, but to reduce the torque steer using Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing LSD, and a specially designed front-end MacPherson binder suspension called RevoKnuckle, which provides a lower scrubber and kingpin offset radius than traditional design while avoiding weight gain and the complexity of double wishbone and multi-link suspension settings. Ford UK claims: "It's as close as you will be driving a full-spec rally car (Ford Focus RS WRC).
- 0-100 kilometers per hour (62 mph): 5.9 sec.
- 31-62 miles per hour (100 km/h): 5.3 seconds (in fourth gear)
- Top speed: 263 kilometers per hour (163 mph)
- Kilometer from rest: 25.4 seconds (the fastest front-wheel drive in this particular exercise - this time recorded by Belgian magazine "Le Moniteur Automobile")
Behind, a large venturi tunnel and dramatic rear spoiler create a look that has a purpose. Focus RS is available in three expressive exterior colors: Ultimate Green, Performance Blue and Frozen White. Focus RS has exclusive 'Ultimate' Green classic 1970s Ford Le Mans Green from the era of Ford Escort RS1600.
RS 500 Focus
The Focus RS500 was launched in April 2010. Limited production of 500 units (101 of which were for the UK) was produced. It has a 2.5 L5 turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 345 bhp (257 kW; 350 PS) and can perform 0-62 mph in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 165 mph (266 km/h) making it the fastest Focus.
The new model was given the RS500 designation to highlight the very limited production of 500 individual-numbered vehicles, all of which were offered for customers to purchase. Each RS500 carries a metal plaque on the center console, hand carved with a unique identification number from 001 to 500.
To provide the RS500 with the right power unit, the 305A PS (224Ã, kW; 301Ã, bhp) turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-liter engine from the Standard Focus Hospital has been upgraded to generate more significant top-end and mid-range power. Peak power is increased by 45 PS (33 kW; 44 bhp) to 350 PS (257 kW; 345 bhp) at 6,000 rpm, while torque has been increased from 440 to 460 N m (340 lb? Ft), transmitted over a range of speeds area from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm.
Changes including air-to-air intercoolers are significantly greater to provide colder and denser loads; larger air filter boxes for increased airflow; downpipe large-diameter muffler; and improved fuel pumps, along with updated software calibration to optimize revised engine performance.
Initial performance figures for the Focus RS500 show that it reaches 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed similar to 263 km/h (163 mph) in standard RS.
Engineered by Fans of the Focus RS500 The Focus RS500 engine has been modified by a team from Ford TeamRS in partnership with Revolve Technologies, an automotive engineering company that develops Ford-approved performance enhancements through the Mountune Performance brand.
All Focus RS500 vehicles will be painted in standard Panther Black metallic colors, before being shipped to a special 3M facility near Frankfurt, Germany, where a special film will be applied to the bodywork to create a matte black effect.
Focus BEV
A prototype Focus electric vehicle battery was demonstrated in August 2008. The variant, sometimes known as "Focus EV".
The concept car introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 was developed to participate in the UK Government's "Ultra-Low Carbon Vehicle" demonstration demonstration in early 2010. A consortium of Ford, Scotland and South Energy as well as Strathclyde University will use a fleet of 15 Ford Focus BEVs and charging infrastructure in and around London Borough of Hillingdon since early 2010. The new BEV demonstration fleet is being developed in part with public funding from the UK Government Technology Strategy Board (TSB) that promotes industry-led innovative projects that reduce CO 2 .
As a publicity stunt, Focus BEV is featured on The Jay Leno Show in a segment called "Green Car Challenge" where celebrity guests drive an electric car.
Motorsport
Focus RS WRC is a version built for Ford's World Rally Team by Ford and M-Sport, which was developed to compete in the World Rally Championship. RS stands for Rallye Sport and WRC for World Rally Car , the FIA ââspecification of the car.
Like all contemporary World Car Rallies, this car is heavily modified from the production version, which only shares the basic shapes and some bodyshell sections. This car has a four-wheel drive feature, not the front wheel drive from the road car. The engine used in the 2007 Focus WRC is based on Ford 2.0 Liter Duratec from other models in the Focus range because the rally rules do not allow standard 2.5 Liter engines from Focus ST or RS road. Like most rally cars, the 2.0 Liter engine is highly modified and performance is improved using a turbocharger. Also Ford Focus WRC 2009 uses Ford 1998cc Pipo built with Duratec WRC l4 engine (Four Cylinders, 16 Valves, 85 mm Bore and 88 mm Stroke), Pi electronic engine management system, Garrett Turbocharger (with 34 mm inlet divider), air intercooler, and catalytic converter.
From the last rally of the 2005 season, Ford campaigned a new model, Focus RS WRC 06, after the launch of a new road car version. The engine chosen for this Focus is the Duratec motor developed by the French engine specialist Pipo Moteur. The car took twelve world rally victories, starting with the 2006 Monte Carlo Rally season opener at the hands of Marcus Gr̮'̦nholm.
The Focus RS WRC 07 is based on the 2006 model, and according to Ford technical director Christian Loriaux "changes to new cars primarily to save weight and to improve efficiency, drive and performance at the bottom of the range." The car made its debut with great success at the Finnish Rally in 2007 when Ford Finns Gr̮'̦nholm and Mikko Hirvonen finished first and second. It then made history in the 2008 Swedish Rally when Jari-Matti Latvala used his car to become the youngest rider ever to win a world rally.
The Focus RS WRC 08 is based on the 2007 model, the Ford Focus WRC 08 seen here for the first time with a new front aero design at Rallye Deutschland 2008 Shakedown. This is the first time Hirvonen and Latvala are driving 08 cars with new front styling.
The 2008 version of the Focus RS WRC includes design style changes as well as engine improvements. The styling changes on the grille area reflect the appearance of the newly previewed Focus RS Mk II sports car.
The RS WRC Focus rally car won four times in 2008 and has 36 WRC wins to its credit since the original model debuted in 1999.
The actual 2009 version of the Focus RS WRC includes a small design style change.
