Produksi
Prior to the announcement, Gillette built a plywood wall around a production line at his factory in Boston, to keep it a secret from many of his own employees. Gillette said the factory is capable of producing 250 cartridges per minute.
In production, Mach3 molding equipment using the first touch-screen temperature controller, developed and manufactured by PMS Developments, a British electronics company based in Hereford, was later purchased by Mold Canada of Georgetown Canada which is now part of the Milacron Group of companies.
Steven Davis, a process control engineer working for Gillette's subcontractor who designs Mach3, steals information about Mach3 and sends faxes to Gillette's competitors, Warner-Lambert, Bic, and American Safety Razor. Davis pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing Gillette's trade secrets in January 1998. Davis was sentenced to 27 months in prison. Davis says he committed a crime because he was angry with his superiors.

Announcement and introduction
Gillette announced the Mach3 razor on April 14, 1998, following more than $ 750 million in research and development costs.
Gillette budgeted $ 300 million for a two-year advertising campaign for Mach3 razors. Gillette markets a three-blade design because it allows to shave with less pressure to the skin and with fewer scratches, thus reducing skin irritation. The Mach3 razor was released in North America during the last week of June 1998. It was first sold in Europe in September 1998.
Cost and profit
Profit margin on high Gillette razor. In June 2009, Gillette produced and wrapped a razor blade with each of approximately $ AS0.10, and the customer paid 48 times that amount in store.
Mach3 series
Other razors in the Mach3 series are Mach3Turbo and Power Nitro Mach3. The Mach3Turbo adds a carbon-like diamond layer for added wear resistance to retain the sharp edge of the blade. All Mach3 series razor blades can be exchanged between the three.
System Mach 3
The Mach 3 system is also used in razors offered by other manufacturers such as Truefitt & amp; Hill, DR Harris, and Muhle.
