Makita Corporation (TYO: 6586) is a Japanese electric appliance manufacturer. Founded on March 21, 1915, it is based in Anj ?, Japan, and operates factories in Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, Romania, UK, Germany, and the United States. Annual sales is equivalent to $ 2.9 billion in 2012. Makita collects a large number of their tools sold in North America at its Buford, Georgia plant.

History
In March 1915, Mosaburo Makita established Makita Electric Works (ownership) in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan and began selling and repairing lighting equipment, motors, and transformers. In April 1969, they introduced a battery-powered 6500D drill (the first rechargeable power tool). In December 1978, they launched a 6010D re-charge drill (the first cadmium nickel battery tool). In August 1997, rechargeable 6213D drivers were exhibited at the Chicago Hardware Show (the first nickel hydride battery tool). In February 2005, the TD130D (the first lithium-ion battery tool) was available.
