Introduced in 2006, the Vectrix VX-1 is a large-size scooter, and is the first commercially available high-performance electric scooter. It is capable of more than 60 mph (97 km/h) and 50 mph (80 km/h) is achieved in slightly under 7 seconds, with maximum torque available from 0 rpm, electric motor characteristics. It has less than 250 parts, compared to 2,500 for a conventional-powered scooter, and has a range of up to 65 miles (105 km) at 25 mph (40 km/h).
In the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia, Vectrix is ââexempt from paying road taxes.
Vectrix scooters use NiMH batteries with 10 years of age and 1,500 loads claimed by the manufacturer. The 125 volt battery pack has a capacity of 3.7 kWa à · h and can be recharged up to 80% within two hours of the domestic standard power socket. The battery can also be partially refilled via regenerative braking. The battery replacement cost is estimated at about $ 3,000, almost a third of the cost of the bike.
In June 2008, Vectrix indicated that it plans to test Lithium Ion batteries based on lithium iron phosphate battery technology, in agreement with GP Batteries International Limited of Hong Kong.
In the autumn of 2008, Vectrix announced an expanded product line with two bikes at a lower price: VX-1E is projected to arrive in March 2009 with VX-2 following in June 2009. The pre-production model of both bikes is shown at New York International Motorcycle Show in January 2009 and also at the Birmingham Motor Show, but they never entered production because the company stopped trading.

Vehicle concepts

In 2012 New Vectrix (back) - announces a super bike prototype at the 2012 SWISS-MOTO event in ZÃÆ'ürich, Switzerland, announces that they accept orders and can produce bicycles with at least 200 pre-orders. In 2008, Vectrix announced the 3-wheeled version of the Vectrix Maxi scooter.
Test by potential users
The New York City Police Department announced in December 2007 that it will test vehicles from Vectrix with the aim of replacing the current gasoline-powered scooters.
The Government of Canada purchased in August 2008 a vehicle from Vectrix with the aim of testing and evaluating open motorcycle energy consumption that fully qualifies the utility, range, and additional road test parameters. This environmental initiative is part of the Canada Transportation ecoTECHNOLOGY for Vehicles (eTV) program.
First Bankruptcy and Reorganization
In July 2009, Vectrix Corporation laid off all important staff, following several months of financial issues announcements. Analyzing the company's financial results showed the company recorded expenditures for each bike sold greater than the revenue earned. On September 28, 2009, the company announced the disclosure of Chapter 11 insolvency in Delaware and that New Vectrix may purchase Vectrix assets to recapitalize the new company. At the end of 2009, its assets were sold to the Gold Peak battery group that allowed the company to be relaunched.
New Vectrix
For most of 2010 the company hired back old and new staff and started supporting the old owners with more problems. When 2011 was launched, Vectrix introduced VX-2 and VX-1 Li/Li into the product line featured on several shows and updated on their website. The VX-1 Li is the same as the original motor but uses a 30-hour lithium battery, for a range and performance similar to a lighter bike. Li has a 42-hour capacity that provides greater range. The VX-2 is designed as a smaller, lighter and cheaper version of the original bike for those who do not need the freeway speed or the original weight. Even though it has almost the same range as the original, its main speed is less than half, but also its price. In 2012, Vectrix signed a distribution agreement with Peirspeed to distribute Vectrix electric scooters in the US.
Loss of European Distributor
In October 2013, Vectrix lost its French distributor Italmotori after allegedly failed to deliver the scooters, batteries and scooter components required for repair in the warranty. In addition, in November 2013 a French automotive magazine after confirming that Italmotori was the third distributor (after Euromotor and Vectrix France) to stop representing Vectrix, reported that Vectrix apparently left two models, VX-1 and VX-3. A dealer in Portugal, Fuel Free Motors, confirmed that they would still offer support for Vectrix scooters.
Shutdown US operation, Bankrutpcy Final Archiving and Liquidation
In January 2014, Vectrix suspended all US operations. After many manufacturing problems resulting in the failure of batteries and non-functioning scooters, Vectrix parent company, Gold Peak, the Chinese battery manufacturer, decided to close the Vectrix facility in the US. Vectrix intends to maintain its manufacturing plant in Poland in order to continue to supply parts for its joint venture with Daimler's Smart division.
In March 2014, Vectrix filed for bankruptcy again, this time under Chapter 7 for the liquidation of the company. Court filings show assets between $ 1 and $ 10 million and liabilities between $ 10 and $ 50 million. The Bankruptcy Trustee announces the auction of the company's remaining assets, including unsold scooters, spare parts, and lithium batteries, which will take place in June 2014.
Vectrix AS and acquisition of PL assets
During the liquidation process, the MPTECH group acquired most of the US Vectrix assets from the bankruptcy trustee and transferred them to Wroclaw Poland. Six months later, all of Poland's fabrication plant assets were acquired by the MPTECH group and part of the heavy production equipment sold to GOVECS to expand their production capabilities. In June 2015, the MPTECH group resumed production of the VX-1 and VX-2 models, equipping them with completely new batteries and electronics, designed and manufactured internally.
Since resuming operations, the new Vectrix company has rebuilt parts of its previous distribution network, restored its supplier network, restored spare parts availability, and embarked on a market expansion plan.
